Nha Trang has accommodation to suit every type of budget. Travellers visit Nha Trang for its stunning golden beaches. These are the best hostels in Nha Trang.
Up until this point on our travels, we had stayed in lower-budget hotels, hostels and guesthouses. As our time in Nha Trang coincided with Joanna’s birthday, we decided to enjoy a little bit of luxury.

Xavia Hotel
As it was Joanna’s birthday, I had splashed out on a more luxurious hotel. When choosing, I had 4 criteria in mind: balcony with a sea view, swimming pool, gym and a bath. There was one hotel that offered all of this: Xavia Hotel (map).
It seemed a little out of the main centre (approximately 15 minutes walk) but still overlooking the far end of the main beach. I was really wanting this hotel to be a treat.
We arrived before check-in and our room was not yet ready so we were told we could wait in the pool area on the second floor and were even given a complimentary drink. We were able to change into our swimming costumes so it was no problem waiting for an hour to check in.
Room ‘Upgrade’
When it was finally time to check in, the manager told us our room had been upgraded to a family room. Instead of one huge double bed, we had two smaller double beds. Unfortunately, it also meant we did not have a bath and our balcony did not have a table and was at the side of the hotel with only a side view of the sea. It was still a nice room but it just ate away at me that this was not the special room I had envisaged for Joanna’s birthday. Joanna didn’t seem to mind but I knew it hadn’t had the WOW effect on her.
After admitting to myself that I was actually disappointed, I went to the reception to express my disappointment. They were very concerned that I was not happy and asked me to take a seat. After a short wait, they came and told me that they would move me into the room that I booked. They were very apologetic. I went back upstairs to tell Joanna that we were moving.
THE Best Hotel Room
A porter came to take our bags and lead us to our room. When he opened the door and led us in, we were immediately hit with the WOW factor that had been missing in the previous room. Not only did we have our bath (something of a luxury when travelling) but it overlooked the sea! The balcony was at the front of the hotel and had table and chairs facing the whole sea. Even more impressive was that, instead of a wall opposite our bed, we had big windows that also faced out over the sea. It was quite simply the most amazing hotel room I had ever stayed in. Joanna was most thrilled!
The hotel was fantastic in every sense. Joanna made good use of the gym and we both enjoyed lazing in the bath, looking out across the sea. The breakfast was also excellent. Each morning, there was a great choice of cereal, fruit, cakes, Western and Asian cuisine.
The Personal Touch
When we first came into our room, we discovered a bowl of fresh fruit and a handwritten letter from the management welcoming us and wishing us a great stay, which was a nice touch. Nothing could have prepared us for what happened on our final night (Joanna’s birthday). We had settled in to watch a movie in bed when there was a knock at the door. Upon opening the door, we discovered two members of staff with a trolley and a birthday cake. They had noticed the date on Joanna’s passport and made her a cake! It was so nice of them and totally unexpected. The cake was delicious too!
I would highly recommend ‘Xavia Hotel’. Just because a hotel is in a higher price range doesn’t necessarily mean it is going to be good, but in this case it was worth the money. The personal touches were, literally, the icing on the cake! It might seem a little out of the centre but it is only a 15 minute walk along the beach and Grab is in the area so it is easy to find cheap rides home.
