Visit Brno to experience subterranean history, incredible castles and churches, and a decent nightlife with some quite wonderful bars. Often overlooked by the much more touristy Prague, visit Brno before the stag groups arrive!
Until recently, I had never heard of Brno. Like many others, a visit to the Czech Republic (the locals told me no-one uses the term ‘Czechia’) meant a visit to Prague. Whilst there is no doubt that Prague is a stunningly beautiful city, its reputation has been tarnished somewhat by allowing itself to become a prime location for rowdy, drunk, usually English, stag groups. Things have improved more recently but I wanted to visit another city in the Czech Republic. Step forward, Brno.
Stag Groups, Stay Away!

Brno is a beautiful city. However, I don’t want to contribute to Brno becoming the next stag destination of choice. Yes, there is cheap beer (and very nice is it too) but it is really not ideal for stag groups. It has a much more relaxed atmosphere than Prague and you will not find strip clubs or other ‘laddish’ attractions. Recently, in Krakow, I saw a stag group finding it difficult to find a bar that would accept them. I would imagine you would be met with the same reaction here.
