Bookish Bazaar

Bookish Bazaar is a second-hand book shop (quite pricey) with a wonderful balcony where you can enjoy a drink and snacks. Unfortunately, it was closed when we returned to take advantage of said balcony but it looked a very cool place to enjoy a coffee and idly watch the streets below. Map.

Chicken Delice

Having tried and failed to get some fried chicken in Bokor Night Market, I came across ‘Chicken Delice’. Obviously, some kind of local version of KFC, it was not the kind of place I would normally visit. But, I was hungry and I did have a craving for fried chicken so I went for it. It was actually pretty good! It wasn’t greasy like KFC and was coated in a mildly spiced batter. A real guilty pleasure! Map.

Epic Arts Cafe

A cafe run by a social enterprise increasing work opportunities for disabled people in Kampot. They support lots of local initiatives and also provide great coffee and food! The cafe prides itself on being LGBTQ-friendly. Be sure to visit this cafe. They definitely deserve your support. Map.

Hurricane Brewski

Serving Canadian style food in the heart of Kampot. The hosts were friendly and chatty and made us feel more than welcome. The poutine with chicken was delicious, as was the Canadian chocolate dessert. Map.

Kampot Pie & Ice Cream Palace

In a great location just opposite the fish market, this cafe served good coffee and great pastries at more than reasonable prices. Don’t be put off by the prices, the quality does not suffer! Map.

Looking Glass

Whilst looking in ‘Mathilda Graphic T-Shirt’ store, I noticed there was a door to a ‘secret bar’. We returned later that evening and found the bar open. It had a cool vibe and played great music, even though it was empty. The following night, I returned and had many beers with the American bar-staff and the English travellers (and the local barfly) at the bar. It was a great night and perhaps the best bar I’d found yet in Cambodia. Draught beer was only $1. Highly recommended. Map. EDIT: Looking Glass is now permanently closed.

Nara Restaurant

There were many restaurants on this road, all serving pretty much the same food at reasonable prices. I had a fish lok lak here which did the job. I preferred the beef lok lak from another restaurant just up from here but I can’t remember the name! Map.

Simple Things

SImple Things is the place to find vegetarian and vegan food in Kampot. They offer a varied menu that includes middle-eastern food as well as western favourites. They kept us topped up with free, fresh water which kept the bill down. The vegan burger was delicious and Joanna enjoyed her falafel plate. Map.
