Kampot is a popular destination for backpackers and has accommodation to suit every type of budget. These are the best hostels in Kampot.
It is easy to see why people love Kampot and why many travellers spend more time there than they originally planned. The whole town has such a laid back atmosphere. The centre has many eco-conscious shops and the bars and restaurants offer both local dishes and international options at very low prices. Just a short distance from the town of Kep, I would definitely recommend you visit and spend a few nights in this cute, lazy town.

Kamponbay Makeng II Hotel
As Kampot is a small town, most hotels and hostels are pretty central. We stayed at a place called ‘Kamponbay Makeng II Hotel’ (map).
On arrival, the manager informed us there was “a problem”. Fearing we had been double-booked, we were quite relieved when he then explained that there had been an infestation of flies in the area and some people had complained. They told us to keep windows closed at night and placed towels up to the bottom of the door to improve the situation. We had no real issues. After travelling for 4 months, a few flies were not going to bother us. It was probably someone who had arrived in Asia for the first time who complained!
The hotel was more than adequate. Our room was light and airy and we had comfortable beds, a good shower and decent WiFi. It was about a 10 minute walk into the centre of Kampot.
