There are many hotels and hostels in Bratislava to suit every budget. It is advisable to choose accommodation that is near to the old town as this is where you will be spending most of your time.

I have visited Bratislava twice and stayed in three places: two hostels and an airbnb apartment.
Apartment Near Old Town
I stayed here on my first visit to Bratislava in 2017. The apartment is located on Spitalska, just a short walk to the old town. We never met the owner of the apartment and check in was unusual. We were given directions to the apartment and then told to look for an envelope behind a telephone kiosk on the street near to the apartment. The envelope was there as promised and we were able to access the apartment with no problems.
The apartment was ideally located and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the shower and WiFi worked perfectly. There is a full kitchen so you are able to make your own meals should you wish to save some money.
Communication with the owner was good. He contacted us a couple of times during our short stay to make sure everything was good. It was a great base from which to explore the city.

Zeitlos Boutique Hostel
On my return to Bratisava, I booked a two night stay at ‘Zeitlos Boutique Hostel’ (map). The hostel is located on the other side of Staromestska to the old town. Google Maps insisted this meant a 10 minute walk into the old town but there is an alternative route, through the bus station, meaning that the old town is just a few minutes walk. It is on a quiet street so there are no problems with noise.
The hostel is based on the foot of the hill that leads up to the castle. On leaving the hostel, you are presented with great views of two iconic Bratislava sights: St Martin’s Cathedral (map) and the UFO Observation deck (map).
The dorm rooms were decent and each bed came with a locker (locks provided), night light, electric sockets and a privacy curtain. There was a shared kitchen for guests.
My only criticism of this hostel is the bathroom. There was just the one toilet/bathroom for the room which wasn not an issue but unfortunately it wasn’t in the best condition nor was it the cleanest. There was no bathroom mat on the floor and it got VERY slippy. The door didn’t close without being forced, meaning that every time someone went to the toilet in the night, everyone was woken up. Small changes needed that would make a big difference.

I paid £26 for a two night stay in a 8 bed dorm with shared bathroom.
Hostel Folks
On my return visit to Bratislava, I had originally planned to stay for two nights. I was enjoying my visit so I extended my visit by another two days. This time, I booked a stay at ‘Hostel Folks’ (map). This hostel is ideally located on the edge of the old town.
I was able to check in early as there were not many other guests. The dorm room was large, bright and airy. Each bed came with a locker and electrical sockets and a light. There were no privacy curtains.
I had a great stay in this hostel. It was much better, in my opinion, than Zeitlos. The WiFi was strong, the showers were good and the kitchen area and communal room was excellent with games, widescreen TV, ukulele and plenty of space.
I would highly recommend this place. The staff were very friendly and it is ideally located to explore the old town.
